“Balanced” suits most images. “High” keeps the most detail, “Smaller file” saves the most, and “Best quality” compresses without changing a single pixel.

How PNG compression works
PNG is a lossless format, so it has no quality setting like JPG. Instead, PixStrong reduces the number of colours in the image in a smart way — the same approach TinyPNG uses. Most screenshots, logos and illustrations look identical with 256 colours, and the file becomes 60–80% smaller.
Transparency is kept: transparent and semi-transparent areas stay exactly as they are, so logos and icons still sit cleanly on any background.
Need every pixel untouched? Choose “Best quality”: the PNG is re-encoded losslessly with stronger compression than most apps use, which typically saves around 10%.
Frequently asked questions
Will my PNG keep its transparent background?
Yes. The compressed file is still a PNG, and transparent areas stay transparent.
How much smaller will my PNG be?
Usually 60–80% at “Balanced”. Screenshots and graphics compress the most; photos saved as PNG also shrink a lot, though for photos a JPG or WebP is smaller still.
Does compressing a PNG reduce quality?
With “High” or “Balanced” the difference is very hard to see. “Smaller file” uses fewer colours, so smooth gradients may show slight banding. “Best quality” is completely lossless.
Is this like TinyPNG?
Yes — it uses the same palette-reduction idea, but everything runs in your browser, so your images are never uploaded and there is no daily limit.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. PixStrong processes your images directly in your browser. Your files never leave your device and we never see them.
Does PixStrong remove photo metadata (EXIF)?
Yes. The new image is drawn from the pixels only, so EXIF data such as camera details and GPS location is not copied into the file you download. The photo's rotation is applied first, so it still displays the right way up.
